'Practice Integrated Pest Management'
Dharmapuri: The Department of Agriculture has appealed to cotton farmers in the district to practice Integrated Pest Management to control pests and increase the area under cotton cultivation.
A Collectorate release said that Farmers Field School is organised at villages in Dharmapuri in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
A total of 12,000 farmers are engaged in cotton cultivation on 600 demonstration plots.
Along with this, agriculturists give training to farmers from seed treatment till harvesting stage, beneficial and harmful pests and how to control pests.
A sum of Rs. 2, 000 worth of materials is also given as subsidy to the farmers.
Integrated Pest Management helps farmers increase productivity and area under cotton cultivation.
