CHENNAI: The spirit of womanhood came to the fore at the International Women’s Day celebrations held at Food Corporation of India (FCI). The celebration gave women employees their own day, as they danced, sang and displayed their theatre skills on Tuesday.
Addressing the employees following the entertainment programme, FCI Executive Director (Personnel) Anjali Anand Srivatsava said women are endowed with multi-tasking skills and ability to handle responsibilities with discretion. “But we have an inherent nature to take blame on ourselves when things go wrong. We must realise their potentials and bring the best out of us,” she said.
She urged the employees to contribute to the emancipation of under-privileged women. The gathering celebrated the day by felicitating actor Devayani. In her acceptance speech, Ms.Devayani said successful women were those who took failures in a positive spirit. FCI executive director (South) S.S.Bhatoa lauded the women employees of FCI for their competence and contribution to the growth of the organisation. Shiny Wilson, president of Women Employees Welfare Association, which hosted the event, and its vice-president S.Lalitha spoke.
