ERODE: The Consumer Protection Centre (CPC) has asked the Southern Railway to improve passenger amenities in Erode railway junction without delay.

Council Secretary M. Balasubramanian said the railway station, which is used by hundreds of commuters every day, needs more provisions for drinking water supply and public convenience. The centre wanted the railways to initiate immediate steps to implement the Erode - Palani new railway line project, as it would benefit a large number of people in this part of the State.

The centre asked the Southern Railway to change the departure time of Yercaud Express from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the convenience of people in Erode. Additional A/C and second class couches should be provided for Coimbatore - Nagercoil Express.

Mr. Balasubramanian asked the railway to introduce a new train services between Coimbatore and Sengottai.
