Kongunadu Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary E.R. Eswaran has asked the State Government to sort out the ongoing power crisis and implement a uniform load shedding schedule across the State.

“It is unfair to implement a two-hour power cut in Chennai and 16 hours of load-shedding in other parts of the State. The absence of power for long hours has crippled the industrial activities, particularly in the Kongu region that makes significant contribution to the economic growth of the State,” he told reporters here on Friday.

The Kongu region has hundreds of industries providing employment to a large number of people, he said and added that the party had decided to hold demonstrations in December demanding the government a uniform load-shedding schedule and adequate power supply.

Condemning the caste-related violence in Dharmapuri, Mr. Eswaran wanted the government to prevent the caste-based political parties from conducting public meetings and its functionaries from making hate speeches, instigating violence. If the government failed to prevent such hate speeches, similar incidents would repeat in the future, he said. Mr. Eswaran said that the party would organise a protest in Erode urging the government to build a flyover near the Government hospital to ease the traffic congestion in the town.

To a question, he said the crisis within the kazhagam was over and it had begun focussing on various development issues
