MADURAI: Immunisation for children will be performed on Wednesdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in all government hospitals and primary health centres in the district.

Addressing a meeting to review immunisation activities here on Monday in the light of death of four children in Tiruvallur district, Collector S. S. Jawahar directed the officials of Health Department to undertake immunisation on Wednesdays in Government Rajaji Hospital, seven government hospitals, corporation dispensaries and 42 PHCs.

Transportation facility had been arranged to bring children to the nearest hospital where immunisation would be done in the presence of doctors. The children would be kept under observation for one hour before leaving for home. According to an official press release, Mr. Jawahar instructed all PHCs to have ambulance facility and adequate life-saving drugs.
