CHENNAI: The Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) police conducted raids in Flower Bazaar, Pulianthope, Vannarpettai and Madhavaram areas over the past four days and seized over 35 litres of illicit arrack and 750 sachets of arrack from Karnataka.

Around 200 litres of fermented wash were destroyed and 10 persons arrested. According to a press note issued here on Wednesday, the special police teams conducted the raids. On a tip off, the police also destroyed a barrel with a capacity of 200 litres of fermented wash in Manali area. Cases under bootlegging have been registered. Further investigation is on.
