Inspector-General of Police, West Zone, K. Vanniya Perumal inspected the recovered stolen property and appreciated the special teams for their meticulous investigation.
Mr. Vanniya Perumal and Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District, E.S. Uma appreciated the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Periyanaickenpalayam, B. Sakthivel and Inspector Somasundaram for the arrest of five accused which led to the solving of 11 cases of house break-in, and recovery of 31 sovereigns of gold jewellery and three silver plates worth Rs. 7 lakh and Rs. 10,000 in cash. The teams had also arrested two persons which led to the detection of 14 cases and recovery of 54.5 sovereigns of gold jewellery worth Rs. 8 lakh.
In Coimbatore, a total of 26 cases had been detected with the arrest of nine accused and recovery of stolen property worth Rs. 15.50 lakh. The IG also appreciated Tirupur North Inspector Kumar for arresting two persons from Pudukottai in connection with a murder. The Gobichettipalayam police of Erode district were appreciated for the arrest of five engineering and polytechnic students of Gobichettipalaym, which helped in resolving six cases of house break-in in Gobichettipalayam during 2008-11.
The teams recovered computer DVD players, mobile phones, digital camera, a Maruti car, 18 sovereigns of gold jewellery, all worth Rs. 4.93 lakh, and Rs. 5,000 in cash.
The special teams from Udhagamandalam were appreciated for the swift investigations that led to the arrest of three persons of Cuddalore district in connection with the murder of Dasthagiri and Ayas in a private cottage in the hill station. The special teams from Salem Range had arrested three persons involved in two cases of house break-in and recovered 22.5 sovereigns of gold jewellery worth Rs. 2.96 lakh. Another team arrested five accused involved in cases of house break-in and recovered valuables worth Rs. 2.04 lakh including 19 sovereigns of jewellery. The special teams from Namakkal arrested two culprits for robbing Rs.1.60 lakh from a petrol bunk employee. The teams recovered Rs. 1.29 lakh from the accused. The Dharmapuri police detained four persons under Goondas Act in August.
The special teams also arrested the accused and resolved a case of house break-in and recovered property worth Rs.1.56 lakh.
The Krishnagiri police arrested 9 persons and resolved a case of triple murder in Denkanikottai police limits. In Krishnagiri district, Gnaneswaran, who was involved in 9 cases of land grab, was detained under the Goondas Act. Mr. Vanniya Perumal said of the 5,684 petitions related to land grab received, 196 FIRs were registered and 170 accused arrested.
