Two stone idols of Guru Bhagawan (Dakshinamurthy) and Sankari Amman were found lying on the roadside at Thiruvisainallur near Kumbakonam on Tuesday. On noticing them, people informed the tahsildhar of Thiruvidaimaruthur, Gopal, who visited the spot. Later, the police took possession of the idols, which were 2.5-feet high.
Now, the police are investigating whether the idols are the ones that were stolen from Kasi Viswanathar Temple at Kanjanur within Thirupanandal police limits on April 19. Thiruvidaimurthur police informed their Thirupanandal counterparts and handed over the idols to them. It is reported that Thirupanandal police are examining whether the idols belonged to the temple by showing them to the archakas.
