Aim is to reach out to 8,440 beneficiaries: Collector
ARIYALUR: The district administration has commenced the task of identifying beneficiaries for free gas connection and stove at each block level.
Villages which were left out in the earlier exercises would be accorded priority for identification of beneficiaries. The responsibility of identifying beneficiaries have been entrusted with the committees that enlisted eligible people to receive free colour televisions, Collector Anil Meshram said in a press release.
The beneficiary must be a woman, and there must be no gas connection taken earlier in her name.
Also, she must be a permanent resident of the locality concerned, and be prepared to make ready a concrete structure supporting a cement slab on which the stove has to be placed.
After scrutinising and approving the lists of beneficiaries, the district administration will forward the same to the gas dealers. The aim is to reach out to 8,440 beneficiaries in the third phase of distribution, the Collector said.
The Government will pay the deposit money for the cylinder, and the beneficiary will receive the free connection after paying the amount for the first cylinder. At the time of safety clinic – to provide orientation on safe handling of gas stoves – the beneficiaries can pay the amount for the first cylinder in person to the distributor concerned and obtain the receipt.
Based on the receipt, officials will ensure provision of free connection and delivery of the cylinder. In case of any discrepancies in identification of beneficiaries or in payment of money for the first cylinder, the District Collector or the District Supply Officer can be contacted over phone: 04329- 223351 / 98439 83344.
