CHENNAI: The strike by some employees of Hyundai India Motor firm ended on Thursday, following reconciliation talks between the representatives of the employees and the management of the firm, and the employees were returning to work, according to a press release from the Labour Commissioner, dated May 7, 2009.

To come to an agreement on wage revisions and other demands, the Hyundai India Motor Employees’ Union had struck work from April 20 and headed by A. Soundararajan they had embarked on a fast from May 4. Talks organised by the State Labour Department were held between the management and the representatives of the employees between May 5 and May 7 and the Labour Commissioner advised both the parties.

Following this, the workers were advised to resume work and the Management was advised that the employees joining work should be allowed to do so without any conditions and no action should be taken against those employees who participated in the strike, the release said.
