K.Phanindra Reddy, secretary, Housing and Urban Development, on Saturday inspected the progress of construction on the housing tenements being built by Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board in Srirangam and Jailpettai in the city.

432 units inspected

He inspected the construction of the tenement, with 432 units, on the banks of the Coleroon in Srirangam.

The project was sanctioned at a cost of Rs.25.82 crore with XIII Finance Commission grants.

About 320 houses are being built at Jailpettai at a cost of Rs.15.42 crore, also coming by way of XIII Finance Commission grants.

He also inspected the works on construction of 87 houses by Tamil Nadu Housing Board for high income group at Navalpattu Anna Nagar at an estimate of Rs.16.50 lakh each.

Expedite works

He instructed the officials to expedite the works and ensure quality in construction.

V.Chandrasekaran, Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, and Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector, accompanied Mr.Reddy.
