A total of 45 sovereigns of gold jewels and Rs.25,000 cash were stolen from a goldsmith's house at Nilakottai in broad day light near here on Friday.

The police said that an unidentified man entered into the house when Naga Priya, wife of Parthasarathy, a gold smith, was alone and robbed the gold jewels at knife point. He tied her hands and legs with a rope and snatched five sovereign jewellery from her neck. Later, he locked the house and escaped. Finger print experts were pressed into service. Superintendent of Police M.S. Muthusamy inspected the spot.
