Burglars entered a house in Triplicane in the early hours of Saturday and escaped with gold jewellery and mobile phones.

Triplicane police said the burglary took place at the residence of Salim Basha, a retired government employee, when he and his family went to the mosque around 4 a.m. Jewellery weighing 12 sovereigns and three mobile phones were missing. The residents had forgotten to lock the house.
