N. Vijaya Kumar, entomologist at Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Krishi Vigyan Kendra, has received three international awards and two National awards for his work on integrated pest management.

Mr. Kumar is subject matter specialist on integrated pest managament and runs the Biocontrol Laboratory at PKKVK. He was recently in Nepal to receive the Global Achiever Development Award for the growth of Biocontrol Lab, Gold Star Asia International Award and Indo-Nepal Unity Award for his work in integrated pest management.

Earlier this year, he was also given the National Education Leadership Award and the Rashtriya Vidhya Samman Puraskar at New Delhi. Since 1998, Mr. Kumar has been working in the field of integrated pest management, which deals with the use of insects and other organisms and substances to fight pests on crops.
