Two Home Guards of Chengalpattu have received cash awards from Superintendents of Police, Railways, Chennai and Kancheepuram Police District, for ensuring that money left behind in an EMU train reach the owner.

According to official sources, the Home Guards – Babu and Jeeva – found a bag containing a tiffin box in a Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu train around 11-30 p.m. on November 23. They opened the box to find currency notes.

Subsequently, they decided to hand over the cash to the Railway Police. Later, it was known that the money belonged to a cement dealer at Chengalpattu.
