Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) machine, which is capable of conducting seven tests, was commissioned at the Tuticorin Medical College Hospital (TMCH) on Tuesday.

Since MRI or CT scan is not the ultimate diagnostic tool for all the neurological disorder, the fully automated, portable NCS machine has been installed at the TMCH to study various disorders that affect the peripheral nervous system.

Earlier the patients suffering from problems in the peripheral nervous system were referred to super specialty hospitals in Madurai or Chennai.

The NCS machine can confirm with accuracy treatable disorders such as Gullian Barie Syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis, optic neuritis, etc.
