CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has upheld the order of the Joint Commissioner of Labour (JCL) declining to grant approval for dismissal of an employee of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) Villupuram from Service.

The TNSTC submitted that V.Gopu was appointed as a helper on daily wages from May 1994. He was absent from duty from January 10, 2003, and that caused disruption of normal work and a charge memo was issued and explanation called for.

As the explanation was not satisfactory, a domestic enquiry was conducted in which the charges against Gopu were proved.

A second show-cause notice was issued to him, proposing a punishment of dismissal from service and as his reply was not satisfactory, he was dismissed from service by an order dated January 14, 2004.
