TIRUCHI: Hexaware Technologies India, the first IT company to visit the Department of Computer Science of Bharathidasan University for campus recruitment, chose 12 students of MCA for the post of Software Developers at the end of a day-long screening process on Wednesday.

Seventy-two out of 80 MCA students took part in the exercise. The successful candidates, currently in their second year, would be absorbed for a monthly salary of Rs. 21,000 till the completion of the probation period and there will be a significant raise later on. They will be placed in the company's Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi centres during 2008 after they complete their course, according to the Department Head Gopinath Ganapathy.

The company adopted the strategy of mobilising technical manpower a year in advance and was pleased with the higher proportion of successful candidates. Over the last year, the company visited a handful of institutions in the city and interviewed candidates in hundreds, but on each occasion the number of successful candidates did not exceed single digits.

Next visit in January

The company has promised to visit the Department again during January 2008 to conduct campus recruitment for students of MBA E-Business Administration and M.Tech Advanced Information Technology for the posts of Business Analysts and Software Architects respectively, said Mr. Gopinath.
