Following news report in The Hindu about a Dalit boy, P.Suresh Kumar, who fought all odds to gain a medical seat in Theni Medical College, many readers have come forward to help the poor boy complete his studies.

The management and staff of St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School here on Monday donated Rs.25,000 for the boy’s family to help him join the course. A Madurai-based non-governmental organisation working among Dalits has also offered to help the boy.

As the family needs financial support and looks to voluntary organisations and individual donors for help, interested readers who wish to help the student can contact the boy at 96983-18442. – Staff Reporter
