CHENNAI: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Monday arrested an Office Assistant attached to the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation.

According to sources in the agency, the accused Ramanathan (52) working in the Senior Regional Manager’s office called Pandurangan (31), a supervisor of a TASMAC outlet in Chromepet, and demanded a bribe of Rs.10,000. He threatened to get the Supervisor transferred if he failed to pay the money.

Mr. Pandurangan lodged a complaint with the DVAC. A special team formed to investigate the case laid a trap and arrested Ramanathan soon after he received Rs.3,000 as first instalment of the bribe from the complainant, the sources added.
