Tirupur: Senior Health Department officials on Wednesday conducted an enquiry into the incident in which seven persons developed vision complications after surgery in a private hospital at Dharapuram.

Special team

Official sources told The Hindu that a special team, constituted following a directive from the State Health Secretary, took swab samples and surgical instruments to find out whether they had been contaminated.

Doctors questioned

The team, comprising Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services M. Doraikannan, Deputy Director of Health Senthil Kumar and professors from Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, questioned the doctors who performed the surgery.
