Along the lines of ‘Varumun Kappom’

RAMANATHAPURAM: The Health and Family Welfare Department has decided to conduct health ‘melas’ in all Parliamentary constituencies on the lines of ‘Varumun Kappom’ scheme introduced by the State Government.

According to sources, the Government had already sanctioned Rs. 3.12 crore to make logistical arrangements, publicity and procure medicines.

Three camps would be conducted in each parliamentary constituency.

A sum of Rs. 8 lakh would be spent on each camp.

Instructions have been sent to all Collectors and health officials to take steps to conduct the melas before September 30.

At the doorstep

The objective was to provide health services at the doorstep of people while creating awareness on preventive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare.

National programmes on cancer, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and leprosy would be focused upon.

Special attention would be on saving girl children and reversing the declining child sex ratio.
