TIRUCHI: A special medical camp to screen and identify people for treatment under the Kalaignar Health Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatments would be held in the city on January 22, according to Collector T.Soundiah.

About 100 specialist doctors would screen people who have been enrolled under the scheme and those who have been photographed for issue of smart cards so far.

People would be screened for the 51 types of ailments/diseases eligible for treatment under the scheme, Mr.Soundiah said in a press release. The medical camp would be held at the St.John’s Vestry Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School grounds from 9 a.m. onwards. All medical examinations would be conducted free of cost.

Mr.Soundiah said about 1,105 persons have undergone treatment in the district so far at a cost of Rs.2.74 crores. The life-saving treatments were provided through 27 empanelled hospitals.
