DHARMAPURI: Free health check up camps would be conducted for persons above fifty years, said P. Amutha, Collector, here on Wednesday.

Presiding over a review meeting of the Government Medical College hospital and other taluk hospitals at the DRDA conference hall, she said that various tests would be conducted at District Headquarters hospital and taluk hospitals at Harur, Palacode, Pennagaram, Pappireddipatti.

The Collector said that P. Sangeetha died at the Chennai Government General Hospital as she was not responding to treatment. She was referred to the hospital as her condition worsened after performing a family planning surgery at the Karimangalam Primary Health Centre. An amount of Rs. 50,000 would be given to her husband Pechiappan as death relief.

Dr. A.C. Natarajan, Joint Director (Medical Services); Dr. Sundaravadanam, Resident Doctor and Dean In charge, Government Medical College Hospital; N. Ayyanar, Deputy Director (Health Services) and Dr. P. Purushothaman, District Siddha Medicine Officer among others participated in the meeting.
