HDFC Bank, which has 200 branches in Tamil Nadu, plans to open 30 more in the State in the next one year.
According to Dhiraj Relli, branch banking head of HDFC Bank, about 40 per cent of the branches of the bank in the State are in rural and semi-urban areas.
As many as nine of these are mini branches with just two or three persons and operating out of a smaller area.
The entire product range, however, is available in these branches.
The bank’s advances in the State are Rs. 29,700 crore, and deposits are Rs. 20,300 crore. The main growth has come from the retail segment here.
For the bank, 52 per cent of its assets are in the retail segment and 48 per cent in wholesale.
The bank has 3,403 branches in about 2,100 towns and cities in the country. A two-member rural mini-branch was opened at Peedampalli here on Thursday.
