TIRUCHI: Eye catching handicrafts valued from Rs. 10 to Rs. 62,000 are on display at the annual All India Handicrafts Exhibition organised by the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited which commenced at its Poompuhar showroom in the city on Friday. The expo will be open for public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. even on Sundays up to June 30. A target has been set to sell handicrafts items worth Rs. 5 lakh during this exhibition.
On display are brass lamps made at Corporation’s manufacturing unit at Nachiarkoil near Kumbakonam, panchaloha idols, world famous Thanjavur Art Plates and Thanjavur paintings, handicrafts made of sandalwood, silver articles, handloom sarees, table covers etc. The exhibition also features pearl garlands, Rajasthan and Jaipur paintings, wall paintings, covering jewels, jewellery embedded with stones, handicrafts made of wood and vaasthu items.
Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Kadiresan inaugurated the expo in the presence of K. Chidambaranathan, Manager, Poompuhar Sales Showroom.
