Special abishekam and archanas to be performed from 6 a.m.
Guru Peyarchi festival will be held at Sri Vasishteswaraswamy temple at Thittai near here from May 8.
The temple has a separate sannidhi for Guru Bhagawan. Although the actual Navagraha Kshetra for Guru Bhagawan is at Alangudi in Tiruvarur district, devotees also come to Thittai to perform laksharchana and parihara homams at this temple.
On May 8, Guru Bhagawan moves from Meena rasi to Mesha rasi marking which special abishekam and archanas will be performed from 6 a.m..
Parihara homams, for which Rs.500 is charged, will be performed from May 20 to 22 at the temple.
For laksharchana that will be held on May 19 the charge is Rs. 300. Those who cannot participate, can send a demand draft or money order favouring the temple.
Meanwhile, Collector M.S.Shanmugham held a meeting with officials on Tuesday to discuss the arrangements to be made for the festival.
He asked officials to operate adequate public transport to Thittai, provide drinking water to the devotees, maintain hygiene and provide medical help to devotees in need on Guru Peyarchi day.
