The district administration on Friday conducted a meeting with senior government officials and has come out with a series of dos and don’ts for conduct of Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations and processions.

A release says that during the September 19 celebrations and processions thereafter all actions of those indulging in the festivities should not be on the other side of law.

The organisers should not install idols near mosques or churches, should make arrangements for the safety of the idols, should use only colours permitted by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, should not indulge in speeches that would incite violence, should not raise noise while passing through mosques or churches, should not use arms or sticks and adopt all other safety measures. The release says that officials have been asked to remove encroachments on procession routes, provide lighting facilities at approved immersion spots, ply buses in a manner that would not inconvenience those taking out processions, etc.
