The agents and the heads of the payroll savings groups which excelled in the small savings collection during the year 2011-12 were honoured by the District Collector, Jayashree Muralidharan, here on Monday.

The district accounted for 1,611 small savings agents – standardized agents 458, women agents 1,113, PPF agents 40. The Collector presented Rs. 3,000 and a shield to S. Sundari, who was the topper among women agents, Rs. 2,000 to Rosary Santhi, who won the second place, and Rs. 1,000 to Immaculate Mercy, who was placed third.

Under the standardized agency system, Immaculate Mercy was selected winner, N. S. Krishnamoorthy was the runner and Sakthivel finished third. The first place in the payroll savings groups went to N. Pasupathi, general manager, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, the second place to N. P. Venkateswaran of BHEL, and the third place to Sivaperumal of the City Police Commissionerate. The Collector also presented cheques of Rs. 1,000 to four women agents of the Corporation zones and 14 agents of the panchayat unions. T. Thiagarajan, District Revenue Officer, V. Indirani, PA to Collector(small savings), were present.
