Gram Sabha meetings to be held

Gram Sabha meetings will be held in all the village panchayats in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri district on Wednesday on account of the Gandhi Jayanthi day.

During the meeting, subjects including maintenance of solar lamps put up under the green houses scheme, maintenance of rural public buildings and their renovation, self-sufficiency scheme, rainwater harvesting, and solid waste management plans will be discussed. The meeting will address the need for protecting panchayat properties, preventing spread of infectious diseases in view of the North East monsoon, allotting works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, and submission of sanitation audit report and statement of accounts pertaining to expenditure made by the panchayats. Discussion on the establishment of village poverty eradication committees, usage of integrated women and children sanitary complexes and awards for panchayats will included. The meeting will be a platform to decide activities to be taken up for World Hand Wash Day to be observed on October 15.

Members of the public are requested to participate in the discussion, the release said.
