Reports on various State schemes to be discussed

TIRUNELVELI: The District Collector, G. Prakash, has asked the heads of village panchayats to conduct gram sabha meetings in the local bodies on October 2 at 11 a.m. in view of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

In a statement, Mr. Prakash said that the audit report of the panchayats for the financial year 2006-07, report on selection of beneficiaries under Indra Awas Yojana and SGSY schemes, list of works completed under ‘Anaiththu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam’ during the year 2006-07 and 2007-08, steps being taken to get Nirmal Gram Purashkar Award under Total Sanitation Campaign, registration of beneficiaries under National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme should be submitted for discussion at the meetings.

“Give suggestions”

Hence, every resident of the 425 village panchayats in the district should participate in the gram sabha meeting to render their suggestions to further fine tune the programme, Mr. Prakash noted.
