Govt. school boy shines at National School Games

A class VIII student of the Government high school in Vedukathampatti has brought laurels to the State by winning gold medal in the sub-junior category in Taekwondo at the 59{+t}{+h}National School Games held at Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh.

V. Kannan was one among the 11 teams that represented the State in the Under 14 category event organised by the School Game Federation of India between September 12 and 16.

Also, it is the only gold medal won among South Indian State in the category.

His coach A. Nataraj said that the rigorous practice in the last one year had finally yielded result.

‘It is a proud moment for all’, he said. Kannan, who has won many medals at the district and State levels, said that achieving at the global level was his aim.

Gomathi of the same school participated in 26{+t}{+h}TN State Taekwondo Championship 2013 held in Dindigul and won gold medal in the sub-junior category.
