The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute will organise a two-week skill development programme in gold appraisal in Tiruchi and Thanjavur from September 25.

The objective of the programme is to train educated, unemployed youth in gold appraisal so that they could get employment in nationalised banks or cooperative banks as gold appraisers or for self-employment. Practical training would be provided through modern touch acid technique and participants would be issued certificates by the MSME Development Institute, a government agency.

The training programme would be held at the Udhayam Social Service Centre, No.35, Williams Road, Cantonment, Tiruchi and at TNGOU Building, 22 A, Pudhuaatru Palam Salai, Near Circuit House, Thanjavur, according to a press release from R.Paneerselvam, Deputy Director (Metallurgy), MSME Development Institute.
