Global Tiger Day celebrated

The Rotary Club of Pollachi Royalz and the Forest Department will be planting 20,000 saplings in and around Pollachi. Making this announcement during the Global Tiger Day celebrations organised at Viswa Vidyodaya School in Pollachi on Saturday, president Club K.P. Dhanabalakrishnan said that the club would extend assistance to schools in Pollachi for planting saplings.

Around 250 saplings had already been distributed to four schools- Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Viswa Vidyodaya School, Bharath Vidya Niketan and JK Public School.

Speaking later, Rajiv K. Srivastava, Field Director of Anamalai Tiger Reserve and Chief Conservator of Forests, urged the schools and the Rotary Club to begin a signature campaign on ‘save nature, grow trees, protect wild life and save tigers.’
