Matriculation stream students in Class X in the district bettered last year's performance by 1.39 percentile points for a pass percentage of 97.62. And, the first rank this year went to C. Muthulakshmi of G.K.D. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Periyanaickenpalayam, who scored 491 out of 500.
Her centum in maths and science also helped the girl get state ranks in the two subjects. She has scored 98 in Tamil, 95 in English, and 98 in history and geography.
Her father S. Chandrasekaran is the chief superintendent at a private polytechnic college. And her mother A. Rajeswari is a faculty in a college. The girl said she wanted to be a software engineer.
She said she studied every week and did not postpone to the last minute and that she did not find it difficult to secure the district rank.
R. Sandhiya of Dr. V. Genguswamy Naidu Matriculation Higher Secondary School secured the district rank by scoring 490 out of 500. She scored centum in maths and missed it by a mark in history and geography and two marks in science.
Daughter of N. Ranganathan, an office assistant in a private company, said she planned her studies. She understood what she was studying and that was the key to her success. The girl, who wants to pursue computer science, credited the success to her teachers.
M. Hariprasad of National Model Matriculation Higher Secondary School stood third in the district scoring 489 out of 500. The boy scored the maximum in maths and science and 98 in history and geography.
It was not very difficult for him to score the marks as he had started preparations right from the start of the academic year. The boy wants to be an animation engineer and that comes from his interest in drawing.
