MADURAI: The Labour Department has said that all employers of all establishments must give a paid holiday on Wednesday (May 13) to enable their workers to cast their vote in the Parliamentary elections.

According to a release, all shops, industrial units, commercial establishments, eateries/restaurants, beedi-rolling factories, Motor Transport organisations and all others must give paid holiday to their full time and part time employees without deducting their wages.

Even if the employee belongs to same constituency where he is working, paid leave has to be given, according to the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
