PUDUKOTTAI: A total of 12,909 students will appear for the Plus Two public examination scheduled to commence on March 2.

Girls outnumber boys in the examination to be held at 37 centres in the district. While the strength of boys is just 5,920, as many as 6,989 girls will sit for the public examination, Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar said.

Presiding over the Examination Monitoring Committee meeting to ensure fair conduct of public examinations for Plus Two, SSLC and Matriculation courses, the Collector said all arrangements guaranteeing free and fair conduct of examinations had been chalked out.

Officials from the Education Department and members of the Committee would visit the examination centres for ascertaining the implementation of examination rules.

Students need not have any apprehension about any malpractice, she assured.

Superintendent of Police P. Moorthy, Chief Educational Officer S. Chellam, Revenue Divisional Officer P. Baskaran and District Education Officers from Aranthangi and Pudukottai, A. Gunasekaran and Madevan Pillai respectively, participated in the meeting.
