The Mathagondapalli Model School run by the Rural Institute for Community Education will host the fifth edition of the CBSE Girls’ Football Championship from December 11.
Addressing reporters on the school campus, M. Meru, managing director, and Navis Chitra, principal, said that the championship would be held at the world-class soccer play field on the campus.
The field was funded by the Johan Cruyff Welfare Foundation, Amsterdam.
The school was earlier named Johan Cruyff Education Centre.
As many as 26 teams from the four regions in India, and two CBSE Schools from Middle East nations would participate in the competition.
There would be 33 league matches played by all the teams, followed by 16 knock out matches.
The final match would be played on December 15, said Mr. Meru.
Chitra Gangadharan, Asian Star international football player and coach for Indian National Women Football Team, would inaugurate the championship on December 11. P. Ravi, Regional Director (Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry), National Institute of Open Schooling, Chennai, would be the chief guest.
Lanchana Anoop, director, ava Cholayil Health Care (P) Limited would be the guest of honour. Pushkar Vora, Joint Director, Sports, CBSE, New Delhi, would distribute trophy to the winning teams on December 15.
S. Raghavan, president — CSR Initiative for Hosur Society, will be the guest of honour at the valedictory function.
