A 15-year-old girl studying in ninth standard and staying at Rathinapuri knocked at the doors of the City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu on Wednesday night pleading that police rescue her from her mother.

It is learnt that the girl's mother Ramayi, a construction worker, was forcing her into immoral activities and preventing her from continuing her studies.

Mr. Babu arranged for the girl's stay at a home and for education.

Held for flesh trade

Police during a drive against flesh trade arrested a couple Subramanian (29) and his wife Jayalakshmi on charges of forcing a 22-year-old girl with a fracture on her hand into prostitution.

The commercial sex worker was rescued from a house on Kamarajar Street in Vadavalli. Investigation is on into the incident.
