The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Coimbatore City Police on Thursday rescued a nine-year-old girl who was found begging in the city bus stand at Gandhipuram. According to police officials, a team from the Unit led by inspector Muthuraj found the girl near the bus stand. Inquiries revealed that she was a native of Gobichettipalayam in Erode district.

She was referred to the District Child Welfare Committee and later handed over to a children’s home here.
