An Indian gaur created a flutter near here on Saturday. The gaur had strayed into the Kaakathope residential area early in the morning and fell into a stream.
Since it was aged and visually challenged it could not come out. Owing to the crowd of curious onlookers steadily swelling, police personnel had to rush to the place to control it.
After a struggle which lasted a few hours, forest and fire and rescue services personnel guided the animal out of the residential area and moved it towards a nearby reserve forest. However, they could not make it enter the forest.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, G.S. Anita told The Hindu that since the animal was likely to remain there police pickets have posted to ensure the safety of the people.
Forest sources said that the gaur may have come out of the forest in search of water and lost its way due to poor eyesight.
