Chennai: A facility to recycle solid waste and generate energy from refuse-derived fuel would be set up in the Kodungaiyur dumping yard, Mayor M. Subramanian said on Thursday. At a ceremony to distribute aid under the State government’s marriage assistance scheme, he said that work to set up the facility would begin in a month’s time. Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin would launch the work, he said. If approved by the Corporation Council and government, waste management firm Ramky Group would be awarded the contract to set up the plant at Kodungaiyur.
