Devotees of Arulmigu Prasanna Venkataramana Swamy Tirukovil in Karavalli, Omalur taluk here have requested Chief Minister Jayalalitha to sanction Rs. 1 crore from the temple fund for construction of a marriage hall on the temple premises.

In a petition to the Chief Minister, G. Dhanapal, former district president, AIADMK Students’ Wing, said that over 1,000 marriages take place every year in the temple’s only marriage hall. Due to inadequate space, conduct of marriage is very difficult as people taking part in the marriages are put to a lot of hardship. He said that the temple has adequate place and funds in the banks for construction of additional marriage hall on its premises.

Currently, the annual revenue of the temple stands at Rs. 61.50 lakh, he said and requested the Chief Minister to direct the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department to sanction Rs. 1 crore for construction of a modern marriage hall.
