Unscheduled and frequent power cuts spanning 2 to 30 minutes during the afternoons and late hours of the day has irked people of Namakkal town over the last few days. Officials of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) attributed the frequent cuts to increase in demand.

They said that the short cuts were due to faulty trips in the electric lines as the wires ran to a length of up to six kilometres, but were repaired in few minutes.
