Krishnagiri: The second phase of distribution of free colour TVs to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families will be inaugurated on February 15. It will be given to 2,500 beneficiaries each in Krishnagiri, Kaveripattinam, Bargur, Thally and Hosur and to 900 people in the Harur Assembly segment, said Collector Santhosh Babu here on Tuesday.

A total of 300 poor people of Samathuvapurams in Kattinayanapalli, Nallur and Pochampalli received TVs during the first phase on September 15, 2006.

The selection of beneficiaries from the village panchayats concerned has already been completed and approved in the gram sabha meetings held on January 26.

The Collector inspected the TVs and instructed the technical staff to operate them to ensure defect free performances. The manufacturers had delivered them with a warranty period of three years. TVs with manufacturing defects would be replaced within three months. Technical staff from ELCOT and Manufacturers would attend any defects in TVs at the concerned services centres in each taluk. The name and addresses of authorised service centres are as follows: Murugan Electronics, Denkanikottai; Bharathi Electronics, Krishnagiri, Hosur; R.S. Electronics, Pochampalli and Ram TV centre, Uthangkarai.
