More than 1,000 students including 235 girls from various schools in Vellore district are participating in the 8th Free Summer Sports Coaching Camp for School Students organised by the VIT University at its campus here from April 26 to May 18. At the camp, the students are given training in athletics, basketball, football, throwball, karate, hockey, table tennis and yoga. Besides the VIT coaches, 50 external coaches have been engaged in providing coaching to the students. Milk and boiled eggs are provided to the students, who are also given transport facilities for travel from Chittoor bus stand to VIT.
Add summer sports coaching camp
G.V. Sampath, Vice-President (Operations), VIT inaugurated the camp. He said that the VIT gave equal importance to sports as it gave to academics. J. Victor Dhanaraj, Director of Physical Education explained the features of the camp to the students. N.V. Thiyagachandan, Deputy Director of Physical Education welcomed the gathering.
