42 petitions out of 110 received have been acted upon

NAGAPATTINAM: Free house pattas were distributed to 36 beneficiaries at the mass contact programme held at Thazhayamalai village in Keezhvelur block here on Wednesday.

A. Annadurai, Collector-in-charge, stated that about 110 petitions were received one month prior to the date of the mass contact programme to ensure action upon the petitions.

Of these, about 42 petitions have been acted upon and 68 petitions have been rejected. Further, change of names in family cards and pattas were made without delays, Mr.Annadurai said.

The administration has also conceded to petitions seeking monetary assistance and necessary directions have been given to departments concerned. Demands for clean drinking water and buildings for a veterinary hospital and a school would be looked into.

Lauding the performance of Kalaignar's Health Insurance Scheme, Mr.Annadurai called upon families with an annual income not exceeding Rs.72,000 with membership cards in one of the 26 welfare boards to avail of the welfare scheme conceived for the poor.
