DINDIGUL: Subramanian, secretary and salesmen (in-charge) of a fair price shop at Boodhakudi village in Natham block, was suspended on the charges of deputing unauthorised persons to man the shop.

Collector M. Vallalar issued necessary orders for suspension of the staff during a surprise visit to this ration shop on Thursday.

First, he found Ponnusamy, an outsider, was working in the shop instead of Subramanian. After verification of stock, sale and other registers, he detected 472 kg of rice in excess to actual stock in the shop.

While checking the quantum of rice distributed to a cardholder, he also found that quantum of rice sold to the buyer was two kg less than the quantity mentioned in the bill.

Cardholders complained to the Collector that the distribution of all essential commodities was not in correct weight.

Mr. Vallalar also ordered supply officials to depute a salesman immediately for smooth supply of PDS goods to public.
