RAMANATHAPURAM: The Rameswaram police on Friday secured four Sri Lankan fishermen, who drifted away to Indian waters.

Sources said the engine of the plastic boat, carrying Sriram Fernando (21), Revoldo Fernando (20) Santhanadoss (24) and Hyath Dharshan (38) of Manimuthal area in Sri Lanka, reportedly got repaired mid-sea. Finally, their boat drifted to Indian waters and touched the shore at Dhanushkodi on Friday.

Eighty-three more refugees, including 29 women and 23 children, arrived at Rameswaram Island and Mandapam on Friday.

They belonged to 26 families. Most of them were from Trincomalee, Jalli, Sambal, Uchavali areas.
