Four girls along with their family members who went to Muttom beach after attending a marriage function at Marthandam fell into the sea while trying to take photographs from a rock on Tuesday.

Even as the district administration has installed caution boards not to take photographs from the rock, they tried to shoot photographs ignoring the warning.

However a giant wave hit them and they fell into the sea.

The fishermen who were also in the beach rescued Meena (34), Yamini (17), Rajeswari (14) and Sangeetha (13) of Chennai and admitted them to a private hospital at Colachel.

Of the four girls, three were treated as out patients except Sangeetha, who sustained serious injuries and she was admitted.

However she was also discharged on Wednesday.

Post policemen

The fishermen who rescued all the four girls urged the Government to post adequate police personnel to prevent such incidents in future.

The police have registered a case in this connection.
